3 Year Vegan Anniversary

The end of March marked our 3 years of being vegan!! It's so exciting to see these years pass and know that I never want to go back.

To celebrate we decided to go to our favorite vegan restaurant, Green New American Vegetarian. Despite the name it IS an all vegan restaurant and it's delicious.

Jacob is very excited to eat.

We both decided to get the same thing:

The Original G Spicy Po' Boy: Spicy mock buffalo chicken, lettuce, tomato, and vegan mayo. We both added Daiya cheese on top. With a side of thyme fries.

This sandwich is super delicious. The chicken they use is amazing and has a really great texture. It's also really spicy which is good and even better with a side of their homemade ranch sauce. Their homemade mayo makes the sandwich in my opinion. It's creamy, not too "soy tasting", and goes great with the spice.

For dessert we both got a Tsoynami which is basically a vegan version of a Blizzard made with their homemade vegan soft serve and various mix-ins.

I got Newman O's and Dandies marshmallows in mine while Jacob got a Rocky Road variation that had pecans, chocolate sauce, and Dandies. (Not pictured)

Their soft serve is really great to begin with. I'm pretty sure they use some mixture of coconut and soy milks because it tastes faintly of coconut but you can tell it's soy. It has a super smooth texture and doesn't melt too fast. The blend of Newman O's and Dandies I got was great because the Dandies froze and it gave them a great chew which I liked better than fresh Dandies which are kind of gritty to me. And Newman O's are just delicious. Jacob said his was really good too and agrees on my Dandies opinion.

Not pictured here were our drinks which were great. Green makes their own organic green tea, lemonade, and ginger limeade. Their ginger limeade is my absolute favorite. It has the right amount of tang, sweetness, and spicyness. So refreshing!

That's all we did for our anniversary! I was planning on us going to get vegan tattoos, but we decided against this because I'm still not healing well due to a vitamin D deficiency (NOTHING to do with veganism! Lots of people vegan or not are deficient.)

Bye!

New Blog

Hello! I'm Megan and I used to run Vegan Punks in the Kitchen at a different web address. It got deleted due to things I wasn't planning on, so I had to create a new one. Since some people might be coming here from the old blog, but some might be coming not knowing the old blog, I'll introduce myself.

As I said, my name is Megan, I'm 21, and I will be blogging about vegan food and the lifestyle that goes with it. As you may have noticed the title of the blog is plural and that is because I cook with my fiance Jacob. We chose the name Vegan Punks in the Kitchen because we are both vegan, love to cook, and are into the punk rock lifestyle and music as well. We're kinda poor, so there won't be a lot of fancy food or anything, but hopefully you can get some ideas to eat vegan cheaply. I hope you enjoy the new blog! :)
